A Visionary In Kitchen Design.
Inspired early on by architectural greats such as Gaudí, Hadid, and Foster, Martin Holliday has become recognised as one of the leading kitchen designers in the world. His creativity and boundary-pushing approach have earned him multiple international awards, including the European Sub-Zero & Wolf KDC Award.
Known for blending unusual materials, striking shapes, and bold colours, Martin’s designs are instantly distinctive. Beyond aesthetics, he is committed to creating kitchens that are as practical as they are beautiful, always designed with the client’s lifestyle in mind. Today, Martin also serves as a judge for the Worldwide Kitchen Design Contest, bringing his experience and expertise to one of the most respected awards in the industry.
The Story Behind Chiselwood...
Chiselwood was founded in the late 1980s by Martin and his wife, Mel, who were inspired by pioneers of bespoke kitchen design such as Mark Wilkinson and Charlie Smallbone. Drawing on his background in engineering and his growing love of design, Martin began hand-making furniture in a small Lincoln workshop.
As demand grew, so too did the company. In 1994, the Hollidays moved to Saxilby, transforming a derelict property into their home and building workshops and design offices on-site. Designed to echo the character of the old Malthouse that once stood there, the headquarters remain at the heart of Chiselwood today - a place where bespoke ideas are still crafted into award-winning designs recognised across the world.
